  6. About Drop•PS
  7.  
  8. Drop•PS (“DPS”) is a utility to send text files containing PostScript™
  9. code to any PostScript printer connected to an AppleTalk™ network. To
  10. send a file, folder full of files, or disk full of files, simply drop
  11. it onto the DPS application or an alias to the application. You can
  12. also drop multiple files, folders, or disks at once.

  14. (DPS can also download EPSF-format files.)

  16. DPS does its work independently of any installed printer drivers, so you
  17. don’t need to have the LaserWriter driver installed. DPS is System 7-
  18. compatible, 32-bit clean, and 68040- and Power Macintosh-compatible.

  20. When you run DPS for the first time, it will ask you to choose a
  21. printer. Thereafter, items that you drop onto DPS will be downloaded to
  22. that printer. (The name and zone of the currently selected printer are
  23. displayed in the window that DPS opens up when you launch it without
  24. any documents.) You can change the printer by using the
  25. “Preferences...” command from the File menu. DPS remembers your choice
  26. across launches.

  28. In the Preferences dialog, you can determine whether Drop•PS prepends a
  29. PostScript title header (version 2.0), and whether the settings are
  30. stored within the Drop•PS application itself, or in a separate
  31. preferences file. (Storing settings in the Drop•PS application can be
  32. useful if you would like to set up multiple copies of DPS, with each
  33. one set to send to a different printer.)

  35. Drop•PS is based on DropShell, by Leonard Rosenthol et. al., and also
  36. contains code written for GCC Technologies. Distribution is with the
  37. permission of GCC Technologies.

  40. non-commercial or non-profit venture. You may not charge for Drop•PS
  41. above and beyond any routine connect-time and downloading charges. You
